Now you can check your correct MySQL version of your server by simple SQL query.
You need to open your control panel.-> PHPMyAdmin
-> SQL
1st Query:
SHOW VARIABLES LIKE 'version';
SELECT VERSION();
MySQL 5.7 Version is on the release. Many .PHP, .ASP and many functions works with MySQL5.0x or greater than it.

To keep update your MySQL and PHP is very important for website security. PHP5.4.5.x has released and still people are using 5.0 features. like it MySQL5.7 has released still people are using MySQL5.0 version. it is just because of luck of knowledge. Update your versions and update your security.
